On Thursday June 19, TorchMedia’s CEO Andrew Gibson will be braving the cold to participate in the Vinnes CEO Sleepout for his third year. The event raises awareness of homelessness and important funds to support Vinnies homelessness services.
“As a company we support Vinnies as our primary charity and the CEO Sleepout is something we have been involved with for the past four years. The night itself is a sobering experience when you listen to those people who have been doing it really tough and have been helped by Vinnies to get back on their feet” said Andrew Gibson.
He added that misconceptions need to be addressed, especially notions that the majority of homeless people are middle-aged or elderly men.
“Anyone of us, no matter how successful, can fall on hard times. We need to raise awareness that of the 100,000 plus Australians who find themselves homeless, half of them are women.” said Andrew.
